PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The General Chairman of the Football Association of All Indonesia (PSSI) Erick Thohir revealed that Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) could be one of the arenas or venues for the matches of the Indonesian national team on FIFA Matchday, March 2026. Not only for the senior team, the stadium with a capacity of 82 thousand spectators can also be used by the U-20 squad.
“For the FIFA calendar next year it's March and that doesn't interfere with the league schedule, because if FIFA matchday is, the league stops,” Erick said at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (14/8/2025).
According to Erick, the PSSI is now seriously building the national team strata, from the girls', U-16, U-20, and senior teams. “Well, this is what we can take advantage of later whether senior matches, U-20, U-17, we can use the existing facilities that are certainly owned by the DKI local government. One of them is that JIS,” he said.
For the men's team, the U-17 squad is currently being trialled, while the U-23s will compete again Sept. Not only that, Erick said, the senior team also has a busy schedule.
“This means that the national team needs a lot of sports facilities. JIS could be one of the venue options for official matches or championships,” Erick said.
