REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed that a total of 16,000 invited guests will attend the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta on Sunday (17/8/2025). It is planned that at each session, morning and evening, each will be attended by 8,000 invitees.
“On this occasion, we, personally and representing the committee, apologize that due to the limited venue, many people are actually enthusiastic about attending the celebration. But again because of the limited space, not everything can be accommodated,” Prasetyo said in a statement to media crews on the Palace's lawn.
Regarding fashion during the series of events at the Palace, Prasetyo explained, official invited guests are expected to wear traditional clothes like the previous year. While for the general public in attendance, the Palace does not oblige the public to wear certain clothing.
“What matters is his spirit. The nuance is that if you have a red shirt at home, there are shades of red and white, please wear it, thank God,” Prasetyo said.
Prasetyo said that various performers from the community, agencies, and even arts groups participated in the 80th Indonesian Independence Day celebrations at the Palace. He noted that input and ideas for enlivening the Palace event were numerous and continually emerging.
"There are so many, because input and ideas are dynamic. So, some people have suggested adding something. And for us, the committee, as long as it can be accommodated and doesn't disrupt the main event, it's no problem. After all, everyone is eager to participate," Prasetyo said.
A People's Party will be held inside the Palace, involving hundreds of vendors. Previously, Deputy Minister of State Secretary Juri Ardiantor stated that the Palace is inviting street vendors (PKL) to sell their wares for free to participants of the 80th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony.
"So, after the morning ceremony, a People's Party will be held, where the President (Prabowo Subianto) will prepare various dishes, food, and drinks for the people attending the ceremony. The food preparation also involves street vendors who regularly sell around the Palace, Monas, and the surrounding areas," said Juri during a press conference at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
