President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesian President General (Ret.) Prabowo Subianto has decided to cancel his upcoming visit to the People's Republic of China (PRC). This decision was made due to various considerations, both international and domestic.
Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi explained that in September 2025, President Prabowo received multiple international invitations, including one to attend the United Nations General Assembly Annual Session in New York, USA.
"One of the invitations is to attend the UN Annual Session in New York. This became a significant consideration for the President when deciding whether or not to accept the invitation from the Chinese government," said Prasetyo in Hambalang, Bogor District, West Java Province, on Saturday (30/8/2025).
Domestic dynamics also played an important role in the decision. Prasetyo mentioned that President Prabowo wished to closely monitor the developments in Indonesia, especially with the rise of protests across various regions.
"Given the situation in the country, the President wants to keep a close eye on developments. He wants to lead and directly oversee efforts to find the best solutions," said Prasetyo.
