I have been blogging for a long time and I am going to do something different and share some things you do not know about me.
I was born in a little town in Idaho.
I have 2 brothers and 1 sister.
I am a perfectionist.
I love Christmas and the magic of Santa Claus.
I love all kinds of music and Country Music is my favorite.
I took piano lessons for 10 years starting at 6 years old. I had a really hard piano teacher at age 16 and I told my mother that was enough. I am glad I had this opportunity to learn. I have used it through the years.
I was married right out of high school and had 6 kids. But he was an abuser (I did not know that before I married him) and after 11 years I left with my kids and was divorced. Please if any of you are being abused get help. I was too naive to know about all the help you can get for you and your children. It was a struggle for years.
I moved to Utah for a few years and worked as a caregiver and then a cook. The place where I worked had a cook that did not show up one day and I said I will cook, and that is how I started. I was called by a big retirement place to come and cook for them which I did and loved it.
I also have cooked at many schools from elementary up to high school. I loved that as well. I was the person that made fresh croutons twice a week and I had the teachers lining up outside the cafeteria for a cup of hot croutons right out of the oven. That wonderful garlic smell went clear through the school.
Then we moved to Oregon for 28 years and I was a foster mom for 15 years with over 50 kids. I have lots of advice on having foster kids in your family. I once had a Social Worker tell me do not let this affect your other kids.
They come first, but sometimes these kids problems are so huge that is hard to do. I had another Social Worker tell me if you put one spark of hope in these kids and someday that helps them in their lives you have done enough.
No matter how much love and attention you give them if they do not have the bonding of love and caring at birth they will have a hard time figuring that out their whole lives. These kids need others to help them but remember your family comes first.
One day my kids said “we want our mom back” and it was time to leave Foster Care and be able to just be with my family. It has been wonderful!
We had a big farm in Oregon. We grew 2200 Asian Pear Trees and sold them to Winco and Safeway, Farmers Markets and at our farm.
I have hypoglycemia and it is a challenge everyday. I do not like not being able to eat foods I want to. But after all these years I have decided when I get to the Pearly Gates someday I want a peanut buster parfait waiting for me. LOL!
The early-morning hours are my favorite time of the day. I had to be at work at 4:30 for years.
I love people. I love getting to know them and learning about their lives.
After living in Oregon for all those years we made a big decision and moved back to Idaho. (Not where I was born) I moved back to take care of my mother who lived 5 hours from me. I was lucky enough to do that for 4 years before she passed away last December.
I love to crochet and made the cutest Elf On The Shelf, and Strawberry Shortcake Dolls.
I love the medical field and took classes on Medical Coding and Medical Transcription.
I am afraid of heights. But I can fly and have no problem. Weird!
I love my 19 grandkids and 1 great grandchild with a second one on the way.
And that’s a wrap! I hope this gives you a bit more insight into me and my life.
I believe if everyone exercised a little more kindness, the world would be a better place. Let’s work on that.
Your turn! What do most people probably not know about you?
