How Do You Use Up All That Leftover Halloween Candy??

Spread the love

Halloween is over and there are piles of candy leftover. Did you know that Americans buy an estimated 300,000 tons of candy every Halloween?? We really do not want our kids to eat all of that sugar so let me give you some ideas on what to do with it.

Lots of dentists are participating in a Buy Back Program. Your kids can take their candy and they will pay per pound. Then they send it off to the troop.  Turn the Page to learn more.

As a family take some of it to homeless shelters, and food pantries. A great way to teach your kids about giving to others.

We always saved some of it to make Gingerbread Candy Houses for Christmas. You can let the kids pick out what they would like to use, and then freeze it until it is time to make them.

You can donate it to the troops via Operation Gratitude. Learn more about Operation Gratitude here.

The Ronald McDonald House provides temporary housing for families that receive medical car away from home. Call them in you area and see if they would like a donation of Halloween candy.

Grab all your candy, put it in a food processor and crush everything – makes a great topping for ice cream or a trifle! Turn the Page for Halloween Milkshakes from Brie Brie Blooms.

Share that candy!  You can always take the candy to co-workers or send in with your spouse to his office.

Start a New Halloween Tradition…..Every year, on the first day of October, many many young Switch Witches say goodbye to their parents as they hop in their flying cauldrons to go visit kids (like you!) for a long sleepover play date! During the weeks leading up to Halloween, your family will host to your own Switch Witch. In exchange for a nice visit, your Switch Witch will turn some of your Halloween candy into a fun gift!

Once their gift is left and their candy collected, your Switch Witch will fly off in her cauldron – back home to their own families – until next Halloween when they will return to visit again!

You can get one at Amazon.
