Back To School is here and I hope you made a lot of fun memories this summer with your family.  There is always a lot to do in getting ready with lists of school supplies, technology, new clothes, haircuts, Back To School Night, and more.

Here are a few ideas to help this process smooth and simple……

You do not have to be Super Mom and Volunteer for everything.  You will be bombarded with to-dos. Join the PTO, sell wrapping paper, collect box tops, become room parent, become a classroom volunteer, etc’ Just pick what is important to you and do that.

Set your kids’ sleep schedules back to “school time” two weeks before the first day of school. Young kids need 10 to 12 hours a night to feel energized the following day.

Skinny Pumpkin Granola – Homemade pumpkin granola made with oats, quinoa, maple, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, pecans, pepitas and dried cranberries.

I have worked at several school kitchens and we need to make sure our kids to have a good breakfast at the school cafeteria or at home.  I always made sure the kids started their day off right at home with a full tummy before they got on the school bus. Bright Horizons has some yummy recipes — perfect for busy school mornings.

Label, Label, Label! it’s easy for things to get misplaced.  Mabel’s Labels is  the most stylish way to stay organized this school year. Back-to-school means back to receiving piles upon piles of artwork, graded tests, and school projects. Keep the clutter in check by displaying the pieces your kids are most proud of on a “gallery wall.”

Ruth Soukup, the blogger behind Living Well Spending Less and a mother of two, suggests hanging several cute picture frames on a large wall in the house and gluing clothespins to them, then inserting kids’ accomplishments. Alternate what hangs on the wall to create your own unique, ever-changing art show.
