The Miracle Of Motherhood

I am a mother of six children.  All of them are grown now with children of their own. I was very sick with all of my children. I could always tell when I was pregnant because I would be sick from the time I conceived until the day after delivery.

I know what you are all thinking–then why did you keep getting pregnant?

I always knew there was one more until my last daughter was born. I am a very lucky mom to have such wonderful children! I thought it would be fun to write a blog all about children.  Tag along and let me know what you think.

Congratulations on being pregnant and having a baby Now it’s time to start planning, since having a baby can be a fun, yet stressful time.  Being pregnant can be one of the best times of your life.

Whether you are going to be a parent for the first time or you are on baby number three, no doubt you are looking for great baby info. After all, it doesn’t matter how many times you’re a parent, you still need advice. Remember Babies are such a nice way to start people.

Becoming a parent is one of the most exciting and joyful times of your life but in the same respect it is also terrifying! There are a lot of decisions to be made; are you going to breast or bottle feed?

And what are you going to do in terms of child care? All in all it can often end up being very overwhelming, especially if you are a first time parent!

I love this statement…………..Babies are bits of stardust, blown from the hand of God. Did you Know?? A baby is born every seven seconds. Babies cry but they don’t produce tears until one to three months after birth.

Babies are born with very poor vision but can recognize their mothers almost right away Babies are always born with blue eyes, within a few moments of delivery their eye color can change Babies are born without kneecaps.

You share your birthday with at least 9 million other people in the world…. talk about a lot of celebrating. Newborns usually double their weight by six months.

Next time you are cuddling the toilet and throwing up, bear in mind that, according to a study in Canada, moms who have morning sickness have children with higher IQ levels. Makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it?!!

It’s harder to sing while you are pregnant! A new study has found that women find it harder to sing while they are pregnant. Maybe it’s me, but doesn’t this seem a strange thing to study?

THEY GROW UP SO FAST There are common phrases that get tossed around when you are near a baby.  It’s typical for people to stop and gawk all gooey eyed and say things like “you’re baby is so adorable, so well mannered.”  They can’t help themselves.

Especially if they’re older people.  But then I also see plenty of young people, kids, teenagers, or young couples who can’t resist staring at a baby.  And there is a fascination we human beings have when it comes to age.

We’re always curious how old a person is, and we become even more curious when it comes to babies.  Because those of us who aren’t familiar with raising a baby, those of us who aren’t used to distinguishing a baby’s age just by looking at them, we have to ask people how old their baby is. It’s just funny to me that people ask that with babies, but you never see some guy out at Sam’s Club with his teenage daughter and people stopping him and asking him how old his daughter is.

That would just be weird and scary depending on who asks. category_babies-and-children-resized The most common phrase  people say in reference to having babies, is the phrase, ” they grow up so fast don’t they?”

It’s true that babies are adorable, that they’re so little, so fragile, yet so amusing that I think there’s a part of us that, even though we don’t always prefer changing the poop diapers, or dealing with the throw up, or dealing with the drooly mouths and the crying of a teething baby, we just can’t help ourselves from enjoying the beauty, the sensation of a young baby discovering the beginning stages of a brand new life where everything is fun and amusing.

We say this phrase, “they grow up so fast” because it’s inevitable that it’s going to happen.  We almost have to stop and look at them sometimes to notice how much they’ve changed in just a year of being alive.

It’s really amazing because we look at them and forget that it wasn’t an instant transition for them to crawl or to take their first attempts at walking.

We get used to their first laugh and then it turns into baby babble that we never get tired of because it’s so adorable, but then soon the babbling will take shape into words and it will feel as though they have always been talking.  And it’s because life goes by so fast, or so it seems to us who are so busy in raising a child in this busy world.

So remember that phrase, no matter how often you hear it.  Cherish the baby that is in your life, slow down and enjoy the moments you get to play with them and to experience their innocence, their joy of discovery at this early point in their lives.

After the initial joy of discovering a pregnancy, the question every mom- or dad-to-be asks is inevitably: What will I name my baby? A few names I like our……

More Facts About Babies Babies are born with 300 bones, but by adult we have only 206 in our bodies.  The Reason?  Some bones fuse together later. A fetus in the womb can hear.

Tests have shown that fetuses respond to various sounds just as vigorously as they respond to pressure and internal sensations In the first year of life your baby will triple his weight, increase his length by 50%, double the size of his brain, and create every nerve cell he will ever have.

Children born in the month of May are on the average 200 grams heavier at birth than children born in any other month. A newborn baby’s head accounts for about one-quarter of it’s entire weight. According to researchers at the University of Texas, babies like pretty faces better than plain ones.

Best Job In The World By Darlene Buechel

I’ve been a mom (mother) for over 15 years now, and along with gaining spider veins, 25 pounds, and a few dozen worry wrinkles, I’ve gained knowledge.

For Instance, I learned a major lesson when my darling daughter, age 3, put her peanut butter sandwich in the VCR slot. It seemed she wanted to “watch” her lunch instead of “little Mermaid”. Trust me…VCR’s do not eject Peanut Butter Sandwiches!

In the twelve years since that sticky incident, I’ve also learned the following gems of wisdom:

1. A new mom really can get by on 3 hours and seventeen minutes of sleep per night. You could use the bags under your eyes to pack for a cruise, but at least the sweet smell of poopy diapers can act as smelling  salts to revive you.

2.If it’s 2 am and your toddler shines, “Mommy, my tummy hurts!”, you have three seconds to react before his stomach contents wind up on your pillow case.

3. A two year old can stuff half a purple crayon up his nose in the time it takes to tie your 4- years old’s shoe.

4. Your proudly potty-trained 3-yr-old will always have to “go” after she’s bundles into a long underwear, pants, and snow suit.

5. A mom can have  a 102 degree fever, hacking cough, and horrible rash, but she still has to make super, and make a cover for the 6th grade Science book, and take a sliver out of an 8-year-old’s finger.

6. If head lice is invading your son’s class, he’ll pick that day to borrow Josh’s comb (even though he usually never combs his hair).

7. A teenager may call your jokes lame–but she usually repeats them to her friends.

8. Nothing feels better after a hard day at the office, dentist, or tax accountant, than a big hug and sticky “tootsie roll” kiss from your favorite kid.

9. The best presents are not made of gold or silver, but consist of uncooked macaroni noodles glued to a jar and sprayed with paint.
